How to set the max bandwidth rate in GMod

Type sv_maxrate 0 in the server console to let clients use unlimited bandwidth, or a value like sv_maxrate 100000 to cap it in bytes per second.

sv_maxrate

Sets the highest bandwidth rate, in bytes per second, a client may use; 0 means unlimited.

sv_maxrate <bytes/sec>

Examples

sv_maxrate 0

No cap.

sv_maxrate 100000

Cap each client at about 100 KB/s.

Arguments

bytes/secRequired
Maximum rate, 0 for unlimited.

What it does

Caps how much data the server sends to each player per second. Lower it only if the server's upload bandwidth is a bottleneck.

The game's own description: Max bandwidth rate allowed on server, 0 == unlimited

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
