How to set a custom loading screen in GMod

Type sv_loadingurl "https://example.com/loading.html?steamid=%s&map=%m" in the server console to show that page while players join.

sv_loadingurl

Sets a web page shown to players as a custom loading screen while they join the server.

sv_loadingurl <url>

Examples

sv_loadingurl "https://example.com/loading.html?steamid=%s&map=%m"

Personalized loading screen.

Arguments

urlRequired
Address of the loading screen page.

What it does

The URL must start with http:// or https://. Garry's Mod replaces %s in the URL with the joining player's SteamID64 and %m with the map name, so the page can greet the player or show map info.

The game's own description: URL to show to clients while joining the server. Must start with http:// or https://

Good to know

  • Keep the page light, it loads while the game is busy downloading content.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
