How to change game mode in CS2

Type game_alias deathmatch in the server console, then changelevel de_mirage; the new mode starts when the map loads.

game_alias

Sets the game type and game mode in one step using a mode name like competitive.

game_alias <mode>

Examples

game_alias deathmatch

Switch to deathmatch on the next map.

game_alias competitive; changelevel de_mirage

Competitive on Mirage right away.

Arguments

modeRequired
Mode name such as casual, competitive, wingman or deathmatch.

What it does

Easier than setting game_type and game_mode by number. The new mode applies when the next map loads, so follow it with changelevel.

The game's own description: Set the configuration of game type and mode based on game alias like 'deathmatch'.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS2 server first.
