How to run a config file in CS2

Type exec practice.cfg in the console to run every command in that file from game/csgo/cfg. You can leave off the .cfg.

exec

Runs a config file, executing every command in it.

exec <file>

Examples

exec server

Reload server.cfg.

exec practice.cfg

Load a practice config.

Arguments

fileRequired
Config file name, relative to the cfg folder.

What it does

Config files live in game/csgo/cfg. You can leave off the .cfg extension. Use it to load practice, match or custom setups on demand.

The game's own description: Execute a cfg file

Good to know

  • server.cfg runs automatically on every map load.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS2 server first.
