How to change bot difficulty in CS:S

Type bot_difficulty 3 in the server console for expert bots (0 is easy), then bot_kick and re-add bots so they use it.

bot_difficulty

Sets the skill level of bots that join the game, from 0 (easy) to 3 (expert).

bot_difficulty <level>

Examples

bot_difficulty 3

Expert bots for practice.

bot_difficulty 0

Easy bots for new players.

Arguments

0 easy, 1 normal, 2 hard, 3 expert.

What it does

Affects aim, reaction time and tactics. Bots already in the game keep their old difficulty, so kick and re-add them after changing it.

The game's own description: Defines the skill of bots joining the game. Values are: 0=easy, 1=normal, 2=hard, 3=expert.

Good to know

  • Run bot_kick and let the quota refill to apply the new level.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS:S server first.
