How to change the query limit per IP in CS 1.6

Type max_queries_sec 3 in the server console so one IP gets at most 3 server query answers per second, which blunts query floods.

max_queries_sec

Maximum server queries per second answered from a single IP address.

max_queries_sec <count>

Examples

max_queries_sec 3

Restore the default per-address limit.

Arguments

countRequired
Queries per second per IP.

What it does

Server browsers and tools query the server for its name, players and rules. This caps how many queries per second one address gets answers to, averaged over max_queries_window, which protects the server against query floods. Raise it only if a legitimate tool you run keeps getting ignored.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
