How to run a config file in TF2

Type exec server in the server console to run cfg/server.cfg. Players use it the same way in their game console to load class configs.

exec

Runs a config file from the cfg folder.

exec <file>

Examples

exec server

Run tf/cfg/server.cfg again.

exec etf2l_6v6_5cp

Load a league config.

Arguments

fileRequired
File in tf/cfg, the .cfg extension is optional.

What it does

Loads every command in the file as if typed. The server runs server.cfg on its own at map load. Use it to switch between league or game mode configs, and players use it for class configs.

The game's own description: Execute script file.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to tf/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a TF2 server first.
