How to change interp in TF2

Type cl_interp 0 in your game console so cl_interp_ratio and cl_updaterate set your delay, or use a fixed value like cl_interp 0.0152.

cl_interp

Sets your interpolation delay in seconds, how far behind real time other players are drawn to keep movement smooth.

cl_interp <seconds>

Examples

cl_interp 0

Let cl_interp_ratio decide the delay.

cl_interp 0.0152

About one tick of delay.

Arguments

secondsRequired
Delay from 0 to 0.5.

What it does

The game uses whichever is larger: this value or cl_interp_ratio divided by cl_updaterate. Many players set it to 0 and control interpolation through the ratio. Projectile players sometimes prefer a lower value for more accurate positions.

The game's own description: Sets the interpolation amount (bounded on low side by server interp ratio settings).

Good to know

  • Cannot be changed while connected.

Use it in your game

Type it in your own game console: turn on the developer console in the game's settings, then press the key under Esc. To keep it, put the line in tf/cfg/autoexec.cfg.
