How to spectate a player in Rust
Type global.spectate "PlayerName" in the F1 console as an admin to follow that player as a spectator. Type respawn to leave.
global.spectate
Puts you into spectator mode, optionally following a specific player.
spectate [player] Examples
spectate "PlayerName" Watch a reported player.
respawn Leave spectator mode.
Arguments
playerOptional- Name or Steam64 ID of the player to watch.
What it does
Typed by an admin in the F1 console. With no argument you spectate whoever is available; with a name or Steam ID you follow that player, which is the usual way to check a cheating report. Type respawn to leave spectator mode.
The game's own description: Enters spectator mode; optionally accepts a player name or Steam ID to spectate that specific player from a third-person camera
Good to know
- Your character is removed while you spectate, so drop anything valuable in a safe place first.
Run it on your server
Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
