How to set a Steam login token on a GMod server

Add +sv_setsteamaccount ABCDEF0123456789 to the launch options, with a token made at steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers for app ID 4000.

sv_setsteamaccount

Logs the server in with a Steam game server login token so it keeps a persistent identity.

sv_setsteamaccount <token>

Examples

+sv_setsteamaccount ABCDEF0123456789

Launch command line form, with your own token.

Arguments

tokenRequired
Game server login token.

What it does

Create the token at steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers using app ID 4000 (Garry's Mod). It is normally passed on the launch command line. A persistent account keeps the server's Steam ID stable across restarts.

The game's own description: token Set game server account token to use for logging in to a persistent game server account

Good to know

  • Treat the token like a password.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
