How to set up a map rotation in GMod

List one map per line in garrysmod/cfg/mapcycle.txt and set mapcyclefile mapcycle.txt in the server console. Gamemodes like TTT take the next map from it.

mapcyclefile

Sets the text file that lists the maps the server rotates through.

mapcyclefile <filename>

Examples

mapcyclefile mapcycle.txt

Use the standard map cycle file.

Arguments

filenameRequired
Text file with one map name per line.

What it does

Names the map cycle file, one map per line, read from the garrysmod/cfg folder. Gamemodes that move on to the next map by themselves, such as TTT after its round limit, take the next map from this list.

The game's own description: Name of the .txt file used to cycle the maps on multiplayer servers

Good to know

  • Sandbox does not rotate maps on its own.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
