How to ban an IP address in GMod

Type banip 0 203.0.113.5 in the server console to ban that IP permanently; a number above 0 bans it for that many minutes.

banip

Bans an IP address for a number of minutes; 0 bans permanently.

banip <minutes> <ip>

Examples

banip 0 203.0.113.5

Permanent IP ban.

Arguments

minutesRequired
Ban length in minutes, 0 for permanent.
ipRequired
IP address to ban.

What it does

Blocks the address itself rather than a Steam account. IP bans can hit innocent players behind shared connections, so prefer SteamID bans. Same as addip.

The game's own description: Add an IP address to the ban list.

Good to know

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
