What it does

Medieval Mode restricts players to melee and a short list of medieval weapons such as bows and shields. It is normally enabled by maps built for it, but you can force it on any map.

The game's own description: Enable Medieval Mode.

Good to know

  • Change the map after setting it so it applies cleanly.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to tf/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a TF2 server first.
