How to play a map offline in TF2

Type map ctf_2fort in your game console to start a local server on 2Fort. On a dedicated server it loads the map fresh.

map

Starts a map, loading it fresh. Also used to start a local server from your own game.

map <map>

Examples

map ctf_2fort

Start 2Fort.

map tr_walkway_rc2

Load Walkway for bot practice.

Arguments

mapRequired
Map name without .bsp.

What it does

Loads the given map and starts a new server session on it. On a running dedicated server, changelevel is usually preferred because it keeps players connected. In your own game client, map starts a local listen server, which is the quickest way to try a map or practice offline.

The game's own description: Start playing on specified map.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to tf/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a TF2 server first.
