How to add bots in TF2
Type tf_bot_add 5 in the server console to add 5 bots, or tf_bot_add 3 heavyweapons red expert to pick class, team and skill.
tf_bot_add
Adds one or more TFBots, optionally choosing class, team, difficulty and name.
tf_bot_add [count] [class] [team] [difficulty] [name] Examples
tf_bot_add 5 Add five bots.
tf_bot_add 3 heavyweapons red expert Three expert Heavy bots on RED.
tf_bot_add sniper blue One Sniper bot on BLU.
Arguments
countOptional- How many bots to add.
classOptional- Class name, for example soldier or heavyweapons.
teamOptional- red or blue.
difficultyOptional- easy, normal, hard or expert.
nameOptional- Name for the bot.
What it does
Spawns bots right away. Arguments can be given in any order: a number sets how many, a class name, red or blue, a difficulty word, and anything else is used as the bot's name. Without arguments it adds one bot with a random class on the team that needs players.
The game's own description: Add a bot.
Good to know
- Bots need a navigation mesh to move. Use
nav_generateon maps without one.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to tf/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a TF2 server first.
