How to make a LAN only TF2 server
Type sv_lan 1 in the server console so only players on your local network can join. Keep sv_lan 0 for an online server.
sv_lan

What it does
With sv_lan 1 only players on the local network can join. Keep it at 0 for an online server.
The game's own description: Server is a lan server ( no heartbeat, no authentication, no non-class C addresses )
Good to know
- Set it before the map loads, ideally on the command line or in server.cfg.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to tf/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a TF2 server first.
