How to ban a player in Rust
Type global.ban "PlayerName" "Cheating" in the server console to ban that player with a reason, then server.writecfg to save the ban.
global.ban
Bans a connected player by name, with a reason and an optional duration.
ban <player> "<reason>" [duration] Examples
ban "PlayerName" "Cheating" Permanent ban of an online player.
server.writecfg Save the ban list.
Arguments
playerRequired- Name, partial name or Steam64 ID of a connected player.
reasonRequired- Reason stored with the ban and shown to the player.
durationOptional- Length of a temporary ban. Leave it out for a permanent ban.
What it does
Kicks the player and adds their Steam ID to the ban list. Use banid for players who are offline. Run server.writecfg afterwards so the ban is saved to bans.cfg and survives a restart.
The game's own description: ban <player> <reason> [optional duration]
Good to know
- Bans are stored by Steam ID, so name changes do not get around them.
Run it on your server
Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
