How to simulate lag in GMod

With sv_cheats 1 on, type net_fakelag 100 in the console to add 100 ms of fake delay to incoming network data; 0 turns it off.

net_fakelag

Adds artificial delay to all incoming network data to test how things feel with lag; needs sv_cheats 1.

net_fakelag <ms>

Examples

net_fakelag 100

Simulate 100 ms of lag.

Arguments

msRequired
Delay in milliseconds, 0 to turn off.

What it does

Lets addon developers test lag compensation and prediction without a bad connection.

The game's own description: Lag all incoming network data (including loopback) by this many milliseconds.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
