How to change world modifiers on a Valheim server

Add -modifier raids none to the server's launch options to turn off raids. Repeat it for combat, deathpenalty, resources or portals, after any -preset.

-modifier

Sets one world modifier, like combat, raids or portals, to a chosen value.

-modifier <modifier> <value>

Examples

-modifier raids none

No enemy raids on bases.

-modifier resources more

More resource drops.

-modifier portals casual

Portals allow all items.

Arguments

modifierRequired
combat, deathpenalty, resources, raids or portals.
valueRequired
A value valid for that modifier.

What it does

Use it to fine-tune difficulty. Repeat it for each modifier you change, and place it after -preset if you use one. Valid pairs: combat (veryeasy, easy, hard, veryhard), deathpenalty (casual, veryeasy, easy, hard, hardcore), resources (muchless, less, more, muchmore, most), raids (none, muchless, less, more, muchmore), portals (casual, hard, veryhard).

Good to know

  • Add it to the server start line in start_server.sh (Linux) or start_headless_server.bat (Windows); it applies on the next server start.

Run it on your server

Launch options go on the server's start line. Admin commands are typed in the in-game console (F5) by a player on the admin list. New to this? Start a Valheim server first.
