How to restart the game in TF2

Type mp_restartgame 5 in the server console to restart in 5 seconds, resetting scores, rounds and the map timer without reloading the map.

mp_restartgame

Restarts the game after the given number of seconds, resetting scores and the round.

mp_restartgame <seconds>

Examples

mp_restartgame 1

Restart the game in one second.

mp_restartgame 5

Give players a five second warning.

Arguments

secondsRequired
Delay before the restart. 0 does nothing.

What it does

Setting this to a number above zero schedules a full game restart after that many seconds. Scores, round wins and the map timer reset, but the map does not reload. Handy after changing settings that only apply to a fresh game.

The game's own description: If non-zero, game will restart in the specified number of seconds

Good to know

  • It resets itself to 0 after the restart.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to tf/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a TF2 server first.
