How to enable the console in TF2
Turn on Enable developer console in Advanced keyboard options, or put con_enable 1 in autoexec.cfg. The ~ key then opens the console.
con_enable
Toggles whether the developer console can be opened.

What it does

Type it in your own game console: turn on the developer console in the game's settings, then press the key under Esc. To keep it, put the line in tf/cfg/autoexec.cfg.
