How to change the lamp limit in GMod
Type sbox_maxlamps 2 in the server console so each player can place 2 lamps, which are costly dynamic lights; -1 removes the cap. The default is 3.
sbox_maxlamps
Sets the maximum number of lamps each player can have spawned at once on a Sandbox server.
sbox_maxlamps <count> Examples
sbox_maxlamps 2 Lamps cast dynamic light, so keep them scarce.
sbox_maxlamps -1 No limit. Only sensible on small private servers.
Arguments
countRequired- Maximum lamps per player.
What it does
Caps how many lamps a single player can own at the same time. When a player reaches the cap, Sandbox shows a limit message and refuses to spawn more until they remove some. Counts lamps placed with the Lamp tool. Lamps project dynamic light, which is expensive for every client that can see them.
The game's own description: Maximum lamps a single player can create
Good to know
- A negative value such as -1 removes the limit, and 0 blocks spawning entirely.
- Limits are not applied in single player.
- The limit counts per player, so the server total can be this value times the player count.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a GMod server first.
