How to show damage numbers in TF2
Type hud_combattext 1 in your game console to see how much damage each hit deals above the target. 0 hides the numbers.

Arguments
0|1Required- 1 shows damage numbers.
What it does
Shows how much damage each hit dealt above the target. Most players leave it on to learn damage values.
Use it in your game
Type it in your own game console: turn on the developer console in the game's settings, then press the key under Esc. To keep it, put the line in tf/cfg/autoexec.cfg.
